Financial Stewardship

September 25, 2011 - 8:39 am No Comments

These past few months, I have been educating myself on personal finance by reading books written by some of the most sought after financial experts in the country.

Randell Tiongson
mentioned in his blog that the lack of personal finance education is the primary reason why many Filipinos struggle with poverty up to this very day. That because of financial mismanagement, even those who earn big don’t have savings. *ouch!*

I confess, I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur. But as bad as it may sound, saving money is a major challenge for me. I am not maluho or anything, I am just not the type who makes an accounting of how and where my money goes. So sometimes I would ask myself, “Where did all my salary go? What happened? I don’t remember buying anything expensive.”

“It’s the little things that make us poor.”

This statement from my husband’s aunt starts echoing in my head. She’s right. When we spend money on little things, we don’t really realize the impact until our wallet runs out of cash. When I computed the amount of money my husband and I spend on food in the office, I was totally shocked! Since then we made a consensus to always bring baon (packed luch) as often as we can to save money. Instant savings! :-)

Had I learned about the concept of financial stewardship when I started working at 18, I would have been an effortless millionaire now. LOL.

Nonetheless, it’s never too late to know how to take good care of the resources that God entrusts us with.

Anyway, I gotta go back to my research on term life insurance and educational plans. Have a blessed day ahead!

**Financial stewardship is based on the belief that God is the true and ultimate owner of each person’s possessions, and that one is accountable to God for the acceptable care and use of those possessions. – Source: Wikipedia

Recycled Cartridges

Has anyone tried using a recycled cartridge?

This morning, I came across this list online (Top 10 Recycled Tone Cartridges) and I wonder if using recycled ones is comparable to using brand-new cartridges for our printers.

I don’t use the printer that much. I only use it for printing my son’s projects and reviewers when he has exams, so I am not really concerned with quality at its finest.

Why spend too much on cartridges when there’s an option to spend less? :-)
